Can the auto dealer refuse to return deposit of car if we dont buy the car from them?
I have put $1000 good faith deposit on the car. It already appears on my credit card. Now I changed my mind on buying the car. By law, can he keep my deposit? How long before he can refund? Do i need to take any steps?

There was no agreement, Just a credit authorization form. But the salesman said it will be refunded, nothing documented to that effect,
If you did not sign anything that said “non-refundable” then they are required by law to return the deposit.
You need to call them back and get a hard date for the money to be refunded. Make them to tell you exactly when it will be returned, and that if they do not return it, you will call the credit card company and sue if that does not resolve it.
